Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of FigureMill, a collection of free calculators and reference pages for building materials, HVAC sizing, and US home costs. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The short version

• The calculators are free and need no account. No payment, registration, or personal details are required.
• Every result is an estimate, produced from published formulas and typical material or cost figures. It is not a substitute for a licensed professional, a stamped drawing, or a contractor's quote.
• All calculations run in your browser. We never see the numbers you enter.
• You may use the results for any lawful purpose, including commercial work. We ask only that you do not present them as engineering or tax advice from us.

No professional advice

Nothing on this site constitutes engineering, architectural, legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. The tools encode generally accepted formulas — for example, volume as length × width × depth, or board feet as thickness × width × length ÷ 12 — together with published reference figures that vary by supplier, region, and year.

Construction work involves structural, safety, and code requirements that a calculator cannot evaluate. Tax and property figures depend on your jurisdiction and your circumstances. Before acting on a result, confirm it against the applicable building code, the manufacturer's data, or a qualified professional. Pages covering tax or property costs carry their own disclaimer; read it.

Your use of the site

You agree not to:

• attempt to disrupt the site, overload it with automated requests, or circumvent its security measures;
• scrape the site at a rate that degrades service for other visitors;
• copy the site's text or design wholesale and republish it as your own;
• use the site for any purpose that is unlawful where you are located.

Reasonable automated access — a search engine indexing the site, an archiver, an uptime monitor — is welcome and does not require permission.

Intellectual property

The text, layout, code, and visual design of this site are ours. The underlying formulas are not: they are public, and we make no claim to them. You are free to use any result you obtain from a calculator, including in commercial work, without attribution.

Advertising, affiliate links, and third parties

The site is supported by advertising and, on some pages, by affiliate links to retailers of tools and materials. If you buy through an affiliate link, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Commission never determines which product is recommended or how a calculator behaves.

Advertising is served by third parties, including Google. We do not control the content of those ads, and a displayed ad is not an endorsement. Links to external sites — the IRS, material suppliers, standards bodies — are provided for reference; we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.

Availability and changes

The site is provided as-is and may change without notice. Calculators may be added, altered, or removed; a page may be unavailable during maintenance; the site could be discontinued entirely. We are not obligated to preserve any particular tool, result, or URL.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its contents are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any result is accurate, complete, or suitable for your project, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, materials, work, or data, arising from your use of the site or reliance on a result — including over-ordering, under-ordering, failed inspections, or project delay. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is zero.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the site in breach of these terms or in violation of applicable law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, where the site's operator is established. Nothing in this section removes any right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your own country of residence; where such a right conflicts with these terms, that right prevails for you.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the site changes. The date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after a revision means you accept the revised terms.
